Volkswagen's 40th Anniversary Celebration Launches in Shanghai

2024 marks the 40th anniversary of Volkswagen Group's entry into the Chinese market. In April of this year, Volkswagen Group (China) launched a series of celebratory events under the theme "Volkswagen at Forty, Journeying Together Without Limits," to commemorate its historical achievements and future developments in China.

 

From July 20th to 21st, the celebrations converged at the starting point of Volkswagen's journey with China-the Central Plaza of Shanghai's Bund. At the core of the offline event "NEVER STOP Inspiration Party," themed around "Design Without Limits," a diverse audience gathered to experience Volkswagen's continuous innovation in car design and its profound impact on the Chinese market.

The showcased models included not only the iconic Santana, the timeless Audi TT, and the legendary Porsche 911, but also the futuristic ID. CODE concept car, symbolizing Volkswagen's collaborative vision with Chinese consumers.

 

A highlight of the event was the "Volkswagen Design" exhibition area, featuring a meticulously crafted "Time Tunnel" showcasing the historical evolution of the group's iconic models, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Volkswagen's continuous innovation and historical legacy in design.

 

Additionally, interactive experiences such as the "AI Design Station" and "New Spirit Graffiti" inspired creativity among participants, offering them a firsthand experience of the limitless possibilities of future mobility.

According to official statistics, Volkswagen Group's achievements in the Chinese market are significant: with over 50 million vehicles in circulation, 160 models, 39 factories, more than 90,000 employees, and a network of over 3,000 dealerships. Upholding the strategy of "In China, For China," Volkswagen Group continues to deepen its localization efforts, accelerate transformation, and upgrade operations. This includes enhancing local R&D capabilities, strengthening partnerships with local collaborators, adapting to the pace of Chinese market development, and optimizing local supply chain systems, all aimed at providing Chinese consumers with products and services that are closely aligned with their needs and at the forefront of trends.
