On August 27, 2024, Skyworth Auto and Polytron, a high-tech subsidiary of Indonesia's Djarum Group, officially signed a milestone MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) strategic cooperation agreement in Jakarta. The collaboration covers key areas including the construction of KD (Knocked Down) assembly factories, joint product development, and localization of both hardware and software. This partnership marks a significant step forward in promoting and localizing new energy vehicles in the Indonesian market.
Founded in 1951, Djarum Group has a strong presence in Indonesia's tobacco market and also owns Bank Central Asia, the largest private bank in Indonesia. The group is involved in various sectors including consumer electronics, real estate, electric vehicle manufacturing, and telecommunications. As one of Southeast Asia's largest commercial conglomerates, Djarum Group's partnership with Skyworth Auto significantly impacts Indonesia's economic development and drives innovation across multiple industries.
The agreement outlines plans to establish KD factories in Indonesia, aiming to enhance supply chain management and local production efficiency, reduce product delivery times and costs, and improve product competitiveness. Additionally, the partners will jointly develop new energy vehicles tailored to the Indonesian market and explore localized development of software and hardware to better meet local consumer needs. The initial goal is to produce nearly 10,000 Skyworth vehicles within three years.
Skyworth Auto's founder Huang Hongsheng, Cowell Group co-founder and CEO Zhu Ping, and Skyworth Auto co-CEO Han Biwen, among other senior executives, attended the signing ceremony, highlighting the importance and commitment to the collaboration. From Polytron, core management team members including CEO Mr. Hariono, COO Mr. Roberto, and CFO Mr. Guido were present. The day after the signing ceremony, the Skyworth Auto delegation was invited to tour Djarum Group's various industry factories and had in-depth discussions at the Krapyak factory with Polytron's departments on localization strategies, market adaptation, user experience improvement, and technology cooperation.
