On August 5th, the official WeChat account of Great Wall Motors announced that the Tank 300 has recently been officially launched in Malaysia, marking the debut of this luxury off-road vehicle in the local market for Great Wall Motors.
The vehicle features a right-hand drive layout (a right-hand drive version of the Tank 300 has previously been launched in Australia) and is priced at 250,000 Malaysian Ringgit (approximately 400,000 RMB according to IT House). It is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four gasoline engine capable of producing 220 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and an electronic selectable part-time four-wheel-drive system (2H, 4H, 4L).
The Malaysian version of the GWM Tank 300 comes standard with LED headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights, heavy-duty bumpers and fenders, skid plates, side steps, and 18-inch wheels, with a full-size spare tire mounted on the rear door.
According to an interview with IT House, Cheng Jinkui, CEO of Great Wall Motors' ASEAN operations, revealed that Great Wall operates a fully established factory in Thailand and plans to commence production at new factories in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam either this year or next.
In sales figures released by Great Wall Motors, as of July 2024, the company sold 91,285 new vehicles globally, with cumulative sales from January to July reaching 650,954 units, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. Particularly impressive was the overseas market performance, with overseas sales totaling 239,685 units from January to July, a 58.8% increase year-on-year.
The Tank brand sold 18,682 units in July, a 38.49% increase year-on-year, with cumulative sales of 134,720 units from January to July, an 87.59% increase year-on-year, demonstrating strong growth momentum. These figures not only reflect the global recognition of Great Wall Motors' products but also underscore the success of its international strategy.
In addition, Nezha's all-electric SUV, Nezha X, announced its entry into the Malaysian market on July 25th, further expanding Great Wall's product offerings in the region and meeting consumer demand and preferences for new energy vehicles.
