Recently, Toyota announced plans to significantly boost the production of the 2025 Sienna minivan while unveiling upgraded interior features and advanced smart systems. This news has garnered wide attention and aims to enhance Toyota's competitive edge in the market.
Toyota plans to increase the annual production of the 2025 Sienna by approximately 20%, raising it from this year's 71,000 units to 85,000 units. According to Dave Christ, Toyota's North American chief, demand for the Sienna remains strong, but due to production limitations, many orders have been delayed. By expanding capacity, Toyota aims to meet this growing demand.
In terms of design, the exterior of the 2025 Sienna remains largely unchanged, with most updates focused on the interior. The new model will feature a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen, offering a more modern driving experience. Chief Engineer Christian Chock noted that while the pandemic had severely impacted production, output has steadily increased as the economy recovers.
Additionally, the 2025 Sienna will be equipped with Toyota's latest rear-seat reminder system for the first time. This system uses a millimeter-wave radar emitter to detect whether passengers have been left inside the vehicle, significantly enhancing safety. This technological advancement reflects Toyota's ongoing commitment to improving user safety.
From a sales perspective, the Sienna continues to perform well. As of September 2024, sales in the U.S. increased by 6.4% year-on-year, reaching 50,789 units. While the overall minivan market has declined by 6.5%, the Sienna's market share has risen to 21%. However, its sales remain slightly behind key competitors, including the Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey.
The 2025 Sienna starts at $40,635 (including destination fees), an increase of $1,500 compared to the previous model. Toyota expects to officially launch the new model in the fall of this year, hoping that the increased production and product enhancements will solidify its position in the competitive minivan market.
