On December 17th, according to CarExpert, Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has announced that its Yuan UP electric SUV will be launched in Europe in early 2025, with the model expected to be named "BYD ATTO 2." For reference, the starting price of the Yuan UP in the Chinese market is 96,800 RMB. This launch marks BYD's continued expansion into the European market, signaling the company's increasing competitiveness in the global electric SUV market.
Initially, the BYD Yuan UP electric SUV will be exported from BYD's production facilities in China to overseas markets. However, as BYD's new factory in Hungary is set to begin production, the price of the vehicle in European markets is expected to decrease further, enhancing BYD's competitiveness. This strategy not only helps reduce production costs but also improves supply chain efficiency for BYD in the global market.
The BYD Yuan UP electric SUV was officially launched in China on March 26th this year. Built on BYD's e-platform 3.0, it features the company's signature "Dragon Face" aesthetic design, offering a bold and distinctive exterior. The vehicle comes with a large panoramic sunroof, and the rear seats can be fully folded flat to provide a more spacious trunk, catering to customers who prioritize multifunctional space.
Inside, the Yuan UP features an 8.8-inch full digital instrument panel and a 12.8-inch floating touchscreen. The clean, modern design enhances the driving experience, while the partial physical buttons on the center console make operation more convenient. The electronic gear shifter, adorned with a crystal ball, adds a touch of sophistication to the interior. The seats and door panels are made of suede material, further enhancing both comfort and the premium feel of the vehicle.
In terms of specifications, the Yuan UP measures 4310x1830x1675 mm, with a wheelbase of 2620 mm. It is powered by a motor with a maximum output of 130 kW and a peak torque of 290 N·m, with a top speed of 160 km/h. The vehicle adopts the CTB (Cell-to-Body) integrated battery technology, offering two range options: 301 km and 401 km, based on the CLTC electric range standard, meeting the daily travel needs of most consumers.
With BYD's ongoing global expansion, the launch of the Yuan UP electric SUV is another significant step in its internationalization strategy. As the trend toward electrification accelerates in the European market, this move will help BYD secure a larger share of the highly competitive market. In the future, BYD will continue to innovate and optimize its products to offer global consumers more high-quality electric mobility options.
