Subaru officially unveiled the all-electric Performance-E STI concept on October 29 at the 2025 Tokyo Motor Show. The new concept model represents Subaru's vision for future high-performance electric vehicles under the STI brand, while also previewing key advancements in design language and aerodynamic engineering.
The Performance-E STI adopts a low-slung, coupe-inspired silhouette, giving the vehicle a dynamic, forward-leaning stance. The exterior is characterized by sharply defined lines and a distinctive front section where structural contours form a bold "X"-shaped visual signature. The inclusion of functional air vents on the hood indicates an emphasis on aerodynamic efficiency and heat management at sustained high speeds. The front lower section displays the STI logo, reinforcing the model's performance identity.
Seen from the side, the body carries prominent character lines that create a strong sense of structure and volume. Black lower body cladding adds visual contrast, while the extended rear section contributes to a muscular profile. The vehicle is equipped with gold aerodynamic wheel covers, designed to reduce drag and improve brake cooling through controlled airflow during rotation.
At the rear, the concept car features a layered design with a full-width tail light bar and an illuminated "SUBARU" logo positioned centrally. Aerodynamic elements are prominently integrated, including a roof spoiler, a raised ducktail surface, and a pronounced lower diffuser. These structures are aimed at enhancing stability and downforce.
The Performance-E STI is fully electric. While Subaru has not yet disclosed detailed performance specifications, industry sources indicate the model may adopt next-generation solid-state battery technology. The use of solid-state batteries is expected to shorten charging times, increase driving range, and maintain power output consistency under dynamic driving conditions. Combined with Subaru's long-standing expertise in all-wheel-drive and chassis tuning, the concept is positioned to explore new performance possibilities in the electrified era.
The debut of the Performance-E STI reflects Subaru's broader strategic transition toward electrification while seeking to preserve the brand's emphasis on driving engagement and control. Additional details, including technical specifications and production plans, are expected to be announced at a later stage.
