Recently, GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. and FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. have filed an important recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation. Starting from September 29, 2024, the two companies will conduct a large-scale recall of affected vehicles, totaling over 132,000 units. This action is aimed at ensuring consumer safety and the normal operation of vehicles.
In the specific models being recalled, GAC Toyota will recall 72,828 units of the Toyota Corolla Hybrid produced between July 19, 2023, and September 7, 2024. Meanwhile, FAW Toyota will recall 59,296 units of the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid produced between July 3, 2023, and September 9, 2024. These recall actions reflect Toyota's commitment to consumer safety and its focus on quality assurance.
The primary reason for this recall is the imperfection in the brake actuator control computer program. During braking while turning, the brake actuator may not properly adjust the brake fluid pressure. In extreme cases, this may result in the vehicle being unable to provide adequate braking force as intended by the driver, leading to longer stopping distances and an increased risk of collision, posing a potential threat to the safety of drivers and passengers.
To address this safety concern, both GAC Toyota and FAW Toyota have stated that they will take proactive measures. Toyota dealers will provide free upgrades to the internal program of the brake actuator control computer for all vehicles within the recall range, ensuring stability and safety during braking, thereby eliminating potential safety hazards. This recall is expected to conclude on December 31, 2024.
